It's not that you heard about people doing it, it's that you yourself hodl the belief that "it might" be possible. In fact, now that you've got that idea seeded in your mind, there is no way to ever consume psychedelics without triggering that delusion. If you comsume psychedelics with such ideas in your mind, you are guaranteed to experience something you will perceive as confirmatory of your theories. Lue has been indoctrinated into this woo cultism too, but he keeps it mostly out of his public interviews.
That and the sex magic, and the sense of belonging to an "in group". That is literally the same kind of fallacy that attracts high-profile practitioners to it in the first place. And that is of course a false interpretation, a misleading one. And they think "look, this guy dug deep with a critical approach, and he seems like a competent rational guy, and he still came out the other end saying he found something, that some of the woo works". let's look at what independent researchers have written on the subject". Woo looks interesting, I see some preaching it and others criticizing it. The uninnitiated think "this whole occult/esotheric etc. in essence further legitimizing the whole web of woo aforementioned. That's how you get most of these people like Levanda, who collate a good chunk of genuine information with a bunch of woo and build a narrativethat is off-mark. it's easy to fall for it if one starts looking into it. This whole cloak and dagger world and the vast web of rituals and mythos and tricks and symbols and so on that they weave are so deeply rooted in human psychology that they are akin to a virus or a drug. These people go down the rabbit hole, but do not have the core strength to come out the other side with an objective assessment. Make the opposite case in that these are not just "superstitious nonsense" but rather actual rituals that were used to make contact. Although people like DeLonge warn not to do so because you never know who/what you will make contact with and it good either be good or bad just like experiences with angels/demons in religion. When people channel and use various Contact Modalities (another book) they are able to receive symbols/images/information from the other reality. Within their reality they have advanced enough to create physical craft to fuck with us as well as mentally contact whomever they choose to fuck with them as well. I think these aliens/entities are real and we cannot see/interact with them within our reality however it is possible to make contact via certain processes. Personally, I think it is somewhere in-between. There is a book called LSD and the Mind of the Universe about that I read as well. Which echoes modern day accounts of people on high doses of DMT/LSD/Psilocybin communicating with "entities." - which is what Lue Elizondo mentions as our bodies being an antenna, some people can tune into the signal easier than others (without drugs) to make contact, while some people use things like LSD to make contact and enhance their signal. I'm reading the book, The Immortality Key right now and it is essentially about how ancient "cults" used psychedelic substances like plants to mix with their rituals (shaman) to make contact. That said, in Tom DeLonge's book Sekret Machines: GODS - written by Peter Levenda who also wrote about the occult in multiple books like Sinister Forces, make the opposite case in that these are not just "superstitious nonsense" but rather actual rituals that were used to make contact.
